‘Clean Campus and Green Campus’ Drive

PEOPLE’S COLLEGE OF DENTAL SCIENCES AND RESEARCH CENTRE, BHOPAL

CLEAN CAMPUS-GREEN CAMPUS DRIVE

Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan’ campaign was officially launched on 2nd  October 2014 at Rajghat,New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendraji  Modi himself cleaned the road. It was performed in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi's words.

On 11th May 2016, inspired by India's biggest ever cleanliness drive and under the guidance of Dean Dr.Shaji Thomas and Ex-Officio Member Dr.Anjali Bhoyar, the Students Council of People’s College Of Dental Sciences And Research Centre organised a Clean Campus and Green Campus’ drive to remove the waste from  the campus so that it may be recycled, or at the very least, better disposed of.

The drive took place in the garden area of the campus and was inaugurated by Capt. Ambrish Sharma, Director Administration, People’s Group and Dr.Neerja Mallick, Registrar ,People’s University. With zest and zeal, the enthusiastic volunteers(students and faculty members) steered the cleanup drive to success through their efforts and the support of the university.

Understanding the importance of proper disposal of waste, the students of PCDS contributed for dustbins to be placed in various areas of the campus.
The students and the faculties enthusiastically took up brooms and garbage bags to clean up the campus.

The cleanliness drive was followed by plantation of saplings by Capt. Ambrish Sharma, Dr.Neerja Mallick and staff members of each department of the college. The Student Council President Ms.Umma Zainab addressed the gathering that charismatic cleanliness and lush green campus provides an environment suitable for studies and that this drive is a small step initiative to free our environment from the accumulating waste that burdens our Mother Earth.

The whole drive was quite inspiring and motivating for the staff and students. The students realized that any work is best done when it is carried out by a person himself. The students share, “We worked hard, enjoyed every second of it and the positive response received encouraged us to bring new ideas to make our campus more cleaner and greener.”
